August 16th...6 am...on the road again!! This time to Oregon for the Solar Eclipse

First stop after breakfast is the Sundial Bridge in Redding.

After a long day on the road, a great campsite at La Pine State Park off of Hwy. 97.

Not as much traffic as we expected driving through Madras to Andrea and Bill's house on the Deschutes River.  I thought it was going to be more of a cabin!!!!!...wrong.

There are lots of Ospreys and nests here because there are lots of fish for them.

We walk up the road to see how the traffic is on Hwy 26.  Each time we are surprised how little traffic there is.  On the way back down the hill I stop at the overlook.

I am practicing with the filter in front of my camera for the eclipse.  Tomorrow is the 'Big' day.  There are big fires around and we are hoping it isn't smokey tomorrow.

Today we saw no turtles while we were swimming, but I got a picture of a moorish idol.

And lots of turtles from the little cove just south of boat ramp.

Almost time for the shuttle to the airport.

Lazy day....no car...who needs one!!

We started out this morning watching a man trim the palms on the lawn.

We headed out late, walking down the beach to try a new snorkel place.  Imagine our surprise...

We saw turtles from the shore as we meandered down the beach, came to the spot we wanted to try and went snorkeling.

Back at the condo watching a turtle feed in the shallows.

Ah Today!!.....La Perouse Bay and Ahihi-Kina'u Marine Reserve

We got up early to drive out to La Perouse Bay to see the Spinner Dolphins.  Well, they weren't there, but the lava area is beautiful!

It was still early when we got to Ahihi.  The water was pretty clear and the coral beautiful!!

And then a return to the condo to change, have a nice lunch out, return the car....and do a little shopping. 

Later back at our place we swam in the pool, watched the gentle sunset, and grilled dinner.
