The women wear their traditional dress, but the men and young children mostly wear western style clothes.
We went as far on this road as we felt comfortable. Even though Spanish is these people's second language, we always exchange greetings and they often introduce themselves and want to know our names.
Then we turned around, bought snacks at a little store and then turned up into the upper part of town where gringos don't go much. Very steep and no cars!
We see so many people with heavy loads and old people that can barely walk walking up and down these streets. We are struggling to catch our breaths as children run up and down around us.
Since it is getting close to All Saints Day their are kites everywhere. Many of them were made in school. I don't know the connection between the kites and this holiday, but I think we will find out when we get to the kite festival.
