More Machu Picchu

We took the bus to MP about 6am.  It was pretty, but misty with swirling clouds that made you feel like it was floating and detached from the world.  You can see some of the buildings along the lower ridge.

 We got another guide this morning to go with us up Machu Picchu Mountain.  I weren't surei if I could really make it because of my knees, but was willing to give it  shot.  

And I didn't! I was disappointed in myself, but not with the day.  I made it over 1/2 way up, and knew I could go higher, but wasn't sure I could go down from further up.  Suzanne continued and made it all the way!

We did make up to the watch gate and I made it to the Inca Bridge.

We didn't make it to the Sun Gate as our legs weren't going to take us there.  We had plenty of spirit, but our bodies said no.  Everyone out there........don't put off your dreams.  If we were younger we would be hiking the Inca Trail for sure.

Rob,this is for you.  This little vincahauzas is sunning in the ruins. These rodents have long busy tails and are closely related to chinchillas.  And Vicky, I have seen no live guinea pigs (cuys) here at all, although they are on most menus.
