Travel day to Aqua Calientes, now called Machu Picchu Village

Morning was filled with packing, walking through town, buying our last kabob from a women who cooks them by the river....Beef or chicken on a stick with a potato on the end. Yummmmm!, and saying our good-byes.

Catching the train to Aquas Calientes, which is our departure point for Machu Picchu.

ruins and terraces all along the way.

Aquas is like a boom town...situated in a narrow canyon,...few cars, narrow streets, and
hotels, restaurants, and sovereign shops...the energy here pulses.  Store fronts and inside things look great, but at the rooftops and you see corrugated iron and ramshackle buildings every which way.

We will settle in here for three days.  Tomorrow The bus ride up the mountain to Machu Picchu!!
